Singer • Songwriter • Teacher • Artist
Jeanne Marie was born and raised in Colorado Springs, along with her younger sibling, Alex. Her parents are both creative, theatrical, and musical people, and their influence helped shape Jeanne's passion for music. Jeanne started playing piano at the age of 10 and started clarinet in the middle-school band soon after that. She was an avid choir member in both high school and college, where she also picked up playing guitar. Jeanne has also sung on on multiple worship teams, accompanying her mother.
Songwriting became a form of personal expression for Jeanne in her sophomore year of high school, and now she can't go a week without creating new music. She performed an original song at her high school graduation, and has written numerous pieces for various theatrical productions, both in college and community theatre. She is currently co-writing an original musical production with one of her closest friends and fellow performer.
A capella arranging also became a passion of hers in high school – after forming a 7-part singing group of her friends, she both directed an arranged the vocals. This group, which gained more members and continued to perform until Jeanne's graduation, is the only student-led music group that has ever been featured in an official concert at Mitchell High School in Colorado Springs.
Jeanne and her friends still perform together on occasion, and her sibling, Alex, sings with her every chance they have.
Jeanne Marie is currently living in Nashville, Tennessee, and is raising money to record a studio album of her original music. She plans on pursuing both songwriting and performing in any way she can, and her greatest joy still comes from creating music with her friends.
Her family jokes that all her songs are sad, but that's not true. It's only maybe 70%.
